Beyond Good Habits: The Heart of True Spiritual Discipline

True spiritual discipline goes beyond simply forming good habits—it requires a deep, shared commitment to God’s Word. When we immerse ourselves in the Bible, God shapes our thoughts, guides our choices, and protects us from the shifting currents of culture. As Romans 1:16 reminds us, the gospel “is the power of God for salvation.” Studying Scripture builds a solid foundation that helps us navigate daily life with courage, faith, and wisdom.

Yet, this discipline isn’t meant to be practiced in isolation. We are called to be “mutually encouraged by each other’s faith” (Romans 1:12). By walking side by side, our shared faith strengthens our devotion and keeps us grounded in the truth that Jesus is our Prophet, Priest, and King. While the world often tempts us to chase after money, power, or accolades, Jesus challenges us with a vital question: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?” (Matthew 16:26). Worldly gains cannot save a soul. True spiritual discipline is eternally profitable because Scripture alone points us to our only Savior. Let us come together in unity, encouraging one another to trust Him completely and live disciplined, Christ-centered lives.

Have a blessed fall break and see you in November!
