Often, November evokes a season of thankfulness and gratitude. While things are going well, this can be easy to do, but gratitude isn’t just a response to good days. It is a posture of the heart that reflects trust in God, no matter the circumstance. Paul’s words remind us that thanksgiving is not situational but spiritual.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 — “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
When we give thanks in all circumstances – not necessarily for them – we acknowledge that God is sovereign, loving, and at work, even in the things we don’t understand. Gratitude shifts our focus from what’s lacking to what’s lasting: God’s presence, His promises, and His grace. It keeps our hearts soft, our faith steady, and our eyes fixed on Him.
I encourage each of us to pause today and name the blessing that we may overlook – the small gifts, the unexpected lessons, the people God has placed in our path. Each one is a reminder that even in life’s challenges, there is always reason to give thanks.
For HIS Glory,
Jessica Hollewell
