Volleyball & Soccer Capture 2nd Place
Northern Illinois Christian Conference Tournament 2009-2010
Unity’s soccer team had a successful tournament this past weekend with wins of 3-2 over Cornerstone Academy and 2-1 over Cedar Valley. We lost the championship game to Faith, giving us a second place finish. Four of our players were placed on the All-Conference Teams. Josh Warren and Kyle Davis made the Second Team and Eli Skipper and Ryan Medenblik were named to the First Team.
The Unity Lady Knights had a great weekend as they finished in second place at the NICC Conference Tournament! The day started out great as they beat Quad Cities Christian in two. They went on to defeat Faith Christian to end up in the championship game. They were pumped and played extremely hard, but fell just short to Cedar Valley Christian. The girls had a lot of fun and played so well together. Four players were awarded All-Conference honors as well: Heather Hintz, a junior setter, received honorable mention. Hannah Dykstra, a sophomore middle hitter, and Callie Willoughby, a junior outside hitter, both received First Team All-Conference. Rebecca Meinema, a junior middle hitter, received First Team All-Conference and was voted the top player in the entire conference! The girls close out their season this week with matches at Morningstar and at home on Saturday against Cono Christian.
