Mr. Wessels teaches in the secondary building. The classes taught include Computers 1-4, Earth Science, Biology, Accounting, and Physical Science. He coaches the Boys Varsity soccer team and Jr. High Boys and Girls track teams.
I earned a B.A. degree in 1981 from Trinity Christian College. While at Trinity I majored in Mathematics and minored in Biology. About 7 years later I returned to school to obtain my teaching certificate. I completed the necessary work for my certificate in 1991. That same year I was hired by Unity Christian School to teach math and science classes in the 7th-12th grades. Over the past 18 years I have continued to teach at Unity and have taught a variety of classes (8th –10th Bible, Accounting, Computers 1-4, 7th-12th Science, and 7th-10th Math). I have tried to approach every class with the belief that God is necessary in all things. God created everything and sustains everything; He cannot be ignored in any area of study.
My definition of a teacher is someone who is a guide to knowledge and a facilitator of understanding. My definition of a student is someone willing to learn as much as they can so that they are able to fulfill the command found in Genesis 1: 28. Parents can expect me to be a teacher to their student (child). They can also expect me to fairly assess their student’s (child’s) progress in gaining knowledge and understanding.
