Mrs. Laura Readdy
Art Teacher
My passion is to use my artistic talents for God’s glory. I have been a student of the arts for most of my life. I have had many years of private painting lessons, along with several drawing, and painting lessons through the College of Du Page, the Du Page Artist League and later on through Clinton Community College. The talents that I have are all a direct result of God’s generosity and his cultivating hand in my life to mold me and shape me, and he’s not done with me yet. I have my Associates Degree from Clinton Community College. I am in my last year with the University of Phoenix and I will complete my Elementary Education Degree in July of 2010. I have been married to John Readdy for 21 years, and we have two sons attending Unity. We attend Chadwick Evangelical Free Church.
I have been teaching art at Unity since January, 2006, for Kindergarten through twelfth grade. It has been such a blessing to see the art program grow over the past four years. The schedule includes two slots for high school art because of student requests. Both Art I and Art II (advanced art) are offered. I, along with Unity, have been blessed to receive two new art rooms, one in 2008 for elementary students and one in 2009 for the junior high and high school students. It is my honor and privilege to teach art in these wonderful classrooms.
I incorporate God’s word in curriculum and every lesson has a Biblical connection. Students do not have to have any artistic talents what-so-ever to do well in my classes. My goal is to teach them techniques and skills to help them improve in some way. My goal is also to increase the student’s powers of observation by increasing their awareness of the incredible creativity of God. If a child tries his or her best, and follows the instructions to their best ability, they will excel in my classroom. It is wonderful to see a student who thinks they have no talent come to find out that God has gifted them in some way. My job is to bring out those talents out and to cultivate them.
