So how do these "sticks" work
Sticks are passed out each week on Monday. Each student receives 10 for the week. The goal is to keep all of your sticks by the end of the week. You can loose a stick any time you cause a problem for the class. Typically, this is for things like talking in class, or getting out of your seat when you are not suppose to. At the end of the week students will receive points or loss of privileges for the number of sticks they have as follows:
10 Sticks = 4pts
9 Sticks = 2pts
8 Sticks = 1pts
7 Sticks = 0 pts
6 Sticks = 0 pts
5 Sticks = Loss of Morning Recess and fill out problem sheet
4 Sticks = Loss of Lunch Recess and fill out problem sheet
3 Sticks = Loss of Both Recesses and problem sheet
2 Sticks = Phone call home to discuss problem with parents
1 Stick = Conference with parents at school
0 Sticks = Lose all pts previously earned.
Of course if you earn points you must be able to earn something with them. Here is what the class decided they would like to earn. This may be changed at any point in the year.
- Corner time = 1pts
- DEAR time pass = 2pts
- Use the teachers Desk = 4 pts
- Homework pass = 4 pts
- Exchange seats pass = 6 pts
- Food Pass = 6 pts
- Recess/Lunch Pass = 10 pts
- Back of the room for the day pass = 16 pts
- Fresh Kiwi Pass = 35 pts (provide your own fresh kiwi)
If you don’t understand any of the rewards please ask a 3rd or 4th grader they will be happy to explain. Please don’t ask me about the Fresh Kiwi Pass, it was not my idea.
Thank you,
Mr. Bierma
